Can you please tell us more about the 2010 - year of the tiger.

It seems like just recently we celebrated the beginning of a new millennium – 2000, and already 2009 is coming. Everybody wants this year to be favorable and stable. According to the Chinese calendar 2009 is the year of a Yellow Ox (element: earth). Ox and earth together can promise stability, can’t they? Look at the description of the Ox: conservative, hard-working, reliable, loves family and cares about financial stability. Logically the whole year should be like that…
Not sure at all…I personally have a lot of doubts about that. Something went wrong with the Chinese calendar. According to astrology and numerology, 2009 stands as far from stability as possible.
Let’s first look at numerology. 2009 = 2 + 9 = 11 (or 2 =1 +1). Number 2 corresponds with the Moon which is a very changeable planet. She always changes her phases as well as people’s mood. Number 11 relates to as-yet undiscovered planet Proserpina – a planet of transformation and alchemy. Changes through Proserpina are very important and final. No stability can be seen there.
There is no stability from the astrological point of view either. In the world economic crisis the opposition of two complicated planets – Saturn and Uranus – in the fall of 2008 played a huge role. We will have the same aspect of opposition in February and September of 2009. Saturn is foundations, established systems and conservatism. Uranus is changes, often unexpected, adventurism, even anarchism sometimes. It is very difficult for these two planets to come to agreement, and it will be hard in 2009 to find understanding between people of “old training” and those who want to change everything. Changes are expected in all areas of life.
There is also one more thing which is concerned with eclipses. There are going to be two serious eclipses in the upcoming year: on January 26th and July 21st. Some astrologers consider the eclipse of July 21st the worse one. I don’t agree. I think that the annular solar eclipse in January will be more serious. First of all, this is the beginning of a new Chinese year. The year of an Ox will start exactly on January 26th. For Vancouver it is January 25th at 23:55. Secondly, the planetary positions for this moment aren’t favorable. There is the same Saturn – Uranus opposition, the exact conjunction of Black Moon (which attracts all possible dark forces) and Pluto (which is responsible for nuclear energy and mass catastrophes) and other smaller unpleasant things. The 7th degree of Aquarius – the degree of the eclipse – is considered the degree of confrontation and war. Not good when a new year starts with that.
Eclipses often lay a foundation for important cycles. What happens in the interval between solar and lunar eclipses will not happen for no reason. Pay attention to the time between January 26th and February 9th (lunar eclipse). There might be important events. The first eclipse of the year promises us uneasy times: instability in economics, especially in areas related to real-estate and natural resources; and the most unpleasant – there is danger of using nuclear weapons. In the best case scenario, this will be a threat only without real action. Fortunately for us, the solar eclipse can be seen in the Southern hemisphere only – South Africa, South-East Asia and Western Australia. Probably, some regions are safe…
January before the eclipse’ date will be pretty good. People have a rest. Then stressful time will come. Other very tense periods will be in the second half of April, the end of August, September and the middle of November. The second half of April is expected to be quite stressful: war conflicts are possible. They are even more probable in the end of August; antagonistic parties will have difficulties in coming to agreement. In September the world may experience sort of a shock. It can be related with economics or the situation with nature’s balance (something like earthquakes and tsunami). A crisis with the world computer system is also possible.
Of course, not everything is going to be so bad. We will have good changes too. Science is going forward and always eager to bring us new stuff. Many countries will have changes in their political life. Reviewing of the laws towards matching humanitarian requests of society is probable. Unfortunately, somewhere the government will try to centralize power as if for the sake of helping with the crisis.
Beginning with May different religious and spiritual movements will play more a significant role. More people will go for spirituality and try to see beyond the bounds of a narrow materialistic mind. Charity will grow in spite of economic hardship.
Now a little bit about zodiac signs: who will be lucky; who, not so much. Planet Jupiter will move to Aquarius on January 5th. In fact, the Chinese calendar is based on Jupiter’s cycle precisely. The year of an Ox means just that Jupiter is in Aquarius. Jupiter brings success but only in the area of career, business and finances. I must say that Aquarius as well as other air signs – Gemini and Libra, are in privileged position. Sagittarius and Aries will have good opportunities in mentioned spheres as well. Other signs will not get anything from Jupiter.
Difficult planet Saturn is leaving Virgo at the end of October. I congratulate Virgos as well as Pisces’, Sagittarius’ and Geminis on this event. For you the period of limitations, obstacles and depressive mood will be over. However, Saturn moves to the next sign, Libra, and will bring a bit of hardship to Libras as well as Cancers, Aries’ and Capricorns. It will concern only those representatives of these signs who were born at the very beginning of the sign.
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) are going to be the most successful. This corresponds with the earth element of the upcoming year. Life will also be good for air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). This year isn’t very favorable for two fire signs – Aries and Leo. For the third fire sign, Sagittarius, 2009 will be different: somewhere good, somewhere not. Exactly the same for Scorpio and Pisces. Cancer definitely isn’t a lucky sign next year, especially Cancers born in June.
Being under stress after reading what is written above, you probably don’t care any more about recommendations how to celebrate the New Year properly. Nevertheless, I’ll say a couple of words about that and also, what is more important, give some advice about “survival skills”.
As you know this is the year of a Yellow Ox. So for the party outfits we should choose gravel, brown, yellow - even orange is ok. But red should be avoided if you don’t want to play a toreador in 2009 and spend a lot of time dodging from sharp horns. For dinner any food is fine. Considering that Ox is a herbivorous animal, there should be a lot of greens, veggies and fruits on the table.
And now what is the best way to react in the coming year with all its cataclysms? First of all, don’t worry in advance: that never helped anybody. Secondly, don’t try to get rid of real estate if there isn’t an urgent need. With general shocking instability of the stock market only land and natural resources will have a bit of value (in the future, at least). Then, finally, the most important thing. In the turbulent world’s ocean almost everyone has own island or a boat where family, loved ones and friends are. Our happiness depends on these little boats and not on a stock market situation. We should take care of them in the first place by not allowing panic of ocean storms to drown them. I am not talking about money here, just about love…

I was born at the beginning of a solar eclipse, and the night before a partial lunar eclipse. From an astrologer's point of view, how has this affected my life?

I can only give a general answer, because I don't have enough information about you. The role of predestination in the lives of people who were born during an eclipse is very strong. Unfortunately, the possibility of independent action for such people is very limited. Their life is subordinate to the laws of karma.

I am going to work abroad. Can my horoscope help me choose which is the best country to go to? I am an Aries and was born on April 2nd. I read somewhere that Aries is the sign of Germany. Is that true?

Yes, that is true; Germany's sign is Aries. But it does not necessarily mean that you should go to Germany. It is not always necessary to direct your attention to your solar sign; you should examine your horoscope as a whole. It depends a lot on the arrangement of the houses in your horoscope. For example, if you have Aries in the 8th, 12th, and sometimes 4th or 6th, houses of your horoscope, it would be better not to consider an Aries country. You would do better to consider those countries whose signs are connected with the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th, or 10th houses. Which ones? That depends on the purpose of your trip.

Why are there no forecasts on your site? I am a Libra and was looking for a forecast for my sign. I can find them everywhere else, but not here.

Since you can find forecasts for your sign everywhere else, why are you looking for another one here? Many people tell me that they would like to get daily or weekly forecasts for their Sun sign. I don't do this type of forecasting because I don't believe it is possible to divide everyone into 12 groups and "give" a forecast that will fit everyone in a group. Nevertheless, I am constructing a forecasting page, but not by Zodiac sign; it contains the descriptions of the daily influences of the planets and stars. And if you want to, you will be able to coordinate your actions with these influences.

My daughter is having a baby soon. Would it be better to select its name before or after birth?

If you want to take the child's horoscope into consideration when selecting the name then, of course, you will have to do it after its birth, because the horoscope switches on at the moment of birth. If you want, you can make a list of acceptable names and then give it to your astrologer to use after the baby is born. However, be forewarned: the astrologer should look at the horoscope only from the point of view of selecting the best name for the child. It is impossible to do any forecasting until the child is two months old.
